- Intersectionality – So you want to talk about race by Ijeoma Oluo
- “Considering the needs of a select few is easier than for a diverse group of people”
- “Work on the needs of the largest group first”
- “Reach out to people you have not reached out to in the past”
- Are we considering intersectionality?
- How might race, gender, sexuality, ability or class impact this situation?
- Could the identity differences between me and the person I’m talking with about race contribute to our differences in opinion or perspectives?
- Are the people in my racial justice conversations truly representative of the diversity of the identities of those being impacted?
- Does my scholarship of racial justice reflect the diversity of identities?
- Who writes the books and articles that help inform my opinions?
- Am I listening to those who are frequently not heard?
- Am I looking for what i don’t know?
- Am I shifting focus and power from those most privileged?
- Am I making conversation accessible to everyone who wants to participate?
- Am I providing a safe space for marginalized people to speak out?
