Frances Worthington is a writer who loves libraries, gardens, and interfaith exploration. She is a graduate of Duke University who also holds a master’s degree in Library Science. After working as a librarian at Emory University and as Head of the Reference Department at the Nashville Public Library, she spent twenty years writing an award-winning garden column for the Greenville News. She was also a contributor to several magazines, including Organic Gardening. She and husband, John, a retired cardiologist, live in Greenville, South Carolina, with their children and grandchildren nearby.
While serving as chair of the Interfaith Forum in Greenville, Worthington became intrigued by the number of people from very different religious backgrounds who had a common interest in the history of the biblical patriarch, Abraham. After spending several years researching the ways in which Abraham and his descendants have influenced the contours of five monotheistic religions, she wrote the book about which she will be speaking while in the Saint Louis area – Abraham: One God, Three Wives, Five Religions.
Worthington is also the author of two additional books: Southern Seasons (1993) and Baha’i Basics (2013). She is currently working on a fourth book, this one for junior youth.
